Why Do You Need Vest Protectors?

Vest protectors are used during breastfeeding not only to protect clothes from stains and wetting caused by milk rancidity, but also to prevent breast pain by keeping the skin dry.

What do you need bra protectors for?

This product has many names, but is commonly known as a vest protector. They prove useful when a mother is breastfeeding her baby, as milk may be sucked from the breast between each breastfeeding.

These small drops of milk may seem harmless. However, they stain clothes and do not allow the nipples to dry properly. Some women leak more milk than just small drops, for example, when it’s time to breastfeed a baby and the baby isn’t close. This is the case, for example, with working mothers.

Many mothers begin to drain milk reflexively when they hear the baby crying or they smell the baby’s scent. This stimulus causes the mother’s body to start producing the food the baby needs.

For all of the above cases, vest protectors provide a great solution. Vest covers absorb leaking milk and prevent clothing from staining.

A woman may feel uncomfortable when overflowing milk causes wet west on the breasts between breastfeeding sessions.

This can happen at any time of the day, so the best way to avoid these situations is to prepare well for them. In this way, discomfort as well as shame are avoided if the woman is away from home or has company.

Today, there are two types of bra pads: disposable and reusable. What you decide to choose depends on your own habits and preferences.

Disposable bra pads

As the name of these guards suggests, they can be discarded after use. They are used only once and are made of different materials such as cellulose, synthetic fibers (such as polypropylene) or cotton.

They are very absorbent, but the downside is that their use produces a lot of waste, just like the use of diapers and wet wipes. This is why many people only use them in special situations.

Reusable

You can also choose reusable bra covers. These covers can be made of cotton or any other type of fabric that can be washed and reused as many times as you want.

They are much cheaper than disposable bra pads, as just one pair of reusable bra pads may be enough.

The disadvantage of reusable bra pads is that they are not as effective as disposable ones. They also need to be washed every time they get stained – meaning one more task for the mother to perform while the baby is sleeping.

If you spend a long time away from home – at work, for example – you will have to keep them on until you get home to wash them. 

Vest covers are usually worn during the first days or weeks of breastfeeding. They are used especially when the mother’s body is not yet used to the breastfeeding schedule.

Vest protectors are also recommended for mothers who have already returned to work from maternity leave, or for mothers who are otherwise away from home.

To make the bra pads work as they should, be sure to change them often enough. When the guards are wet, do not keep them in contact with your skin for too long.
