If not, you can eat an egg. If you see them instead, discard the egg immediately as they are a sign that the egg is going bad.

Dip the egg in salted water. If you see it sinking to the bottom, you can use it, but if it floats to the surface instead, you might want to throw it away.

As the egg floats, moisture is lost and this is a sign that the egg is aging.
