The generation born between the early 1980s and the mid-1990s is called the Y generation or millennials, while the generation born after the mid-1990s and early 2000s is known as the Z generation. The alpha generation consists of individuals who were born and will be born in 2010-2025.

It’s not unclear that children in the Alpha generation will be experts in technology, and they won’t understand what the world would be like without social media. Many children will have so advanced smartphones at their disposal that they no longer need desktops or laptops at all.

In addition to this, with the use of technology, their consumption habits will also differ from the consumption habits of previous generations.  These children will buy their goods mostly online, and will receive less face-to-face service, unlike previous generations.

2. Be prepared for challenges

The alpha generation will be more independent of others and better prepared for major challenges. They will take advantage of online learning and they will have their own way of studying.

At the same time, it can be said that the Alpha generation will be better equipped than previous generations to face problems that we cannot solve today. This is because they were born into a tightly packed, intelligent, and connection-friendly world.

3. The ability to concentrate is impaired

Alpha children get bored quickly.  This is because they are used to varying between screens on smart devices and finding the information they are looking for quickly.

They jump from one app, screen, and video to another to find something that interests them. This lowers their ability to concentrate.

4. The areas of interest are different

Experts assume that children in the Alpha generation are also interested in physical play, but they are not the ones we are used to. Surveys show that Alpha children are most interested in portable devices and computer programs that reproduce human gestures and movements.

This will affect e.g. to how much exercise children do during the week.  The interests and priorities of these children are in changing the world, especially in changing the technological world.

In conclusion, it is good to recall that the Alpha generation will also face major psychological challenges. Children of this generation will experience more loneliness, even though they are constantly connected to others through technology. This is a natural consequence of the development of technology and a new kind of society.
