For Little Heroes Who Fight Cancer In Their Childhood

For little heroes who fight cancer in their childhood

There are little heroes in the world who bravely wear cloaks and fight day after day against childhood cancer. These brave little ones, together with their families, are leading the struggle against this serious disease.

The superheroes I’m talking about are small in size but big in heart. They are full of courage and hope.

February 15 is International Children’s Cancer Day, and in this article we want to pay tribute to them in the form of words.

These children have a brave face

I know some of these little superheroes who are fighting childhood cancer with the support of family and friends. They are children who one day learned of a terrible disease that came completely without warning  and against which they had to build a protective wall of strength and courage.

These little people fight with a smile and every day, always just the next morning despite the storms. When you look at children, you can see in their eyes how the color of hope goes above fears, even though sometimes their fears come to the surface.

It is in those moments that their parents, family, and friends come to help paint their children’s gray skies in a different color to prevent storms from occurring. They all fight together.

But there are times when gray is permanent and little heroes have to learn to live with that color. The color that eventually stains them golden. It makes them look like bright stars adorning the sky, and they are guides for those other heroes who have to go through the same battle.

Child soldiers with their support forces

The smiles of these children remind us that their struggle is constant and permanent, but also that the difficulties are masked when we support them with a  protective and necessary wall.

This is protection created by hugs and unconditional support. It is made of love, and it serves as a backdrop for their struggle and power. If their resistance falters at some point, the child can be nurtured with what family, friends, professionals, and organizations can offer.

These young fighters are the protagonists of their own story. However, we must not forget that we can be part of the stories in some way. A kiss, words of support, a smile, a hug, the promotion of treatments, or investment in new research.

Everything is necessary – from a small gesture to the greatest detail and resources. For superheroes also need the support of other people to win the battle.

Our goal is to be with them, to love and to give them the strength to remind them  that in many cases they are stronger than they think. Being a superhero is not easy, but their struggle is so great that it cannot be overlooked. Its magnitude is significant because it requires an infinite amount of courage. These are brave and indomitable children.

We are one

This year, many children around the world wanted to give their word as a sign of support  for all those children who are fighting cancer in their childhood. This was achieved thanks to CCI-cancer association (International Confederation of Childhood Cancer), which Christophe Beck (Frozen composer) created by means of a carefully developed in a song called  “we are one” , a Finnish translation of  “we are one”.

The chorus of the song goes like this:

This song called “we are one” serves as a symbol of support  that encompasses words of love and strength. A beautiful gesture that makes us realize that the struggle is not one but all. The protective wall we provide nourishes children with cancer and gives them strength and new opportunities. Our support is part of this all-encompassing struggle.

For you, and all those little superheroes who get up making every day worth fighting for. For those who are protected by your smile, even if the gray cloud is above your head.

For you, and all the little superheroes who give us many life lessons as well as help us see the basic value of life again. Our words to you are full of love, support and strength.
