Today, we’re handing out six cold dishes that taste good to the kids as snacks or as a side dish to the main meal. Warm food may not taste good for a child in hot weather, and especially then cold meals are a great option. These salads, soups and sandwiches are healthy options that contain the nutrients a child needs.

Gazpacho

Gazpacho can be made in the traditional way from vegetables or alternatively from fruits. This is a traditional gazpacho recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 cucumber
  • 500 g of tomatoes
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • Add salt to taste
  • 3 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2.5 dl of water
  • 2.5 dl of olive oil

Manufacturing

  1. Chop the cucumber, paprika, garlic and tomato into small pieces. Place the pieces in a blender with the other ingredients and mix until smooth.
  2. Strain the mixture well to separate the seeds and husks from the liquid.
  3. Put the gazpacho in the refrigerator and serve it chilled.

A refreshing option that kids like is to add strawberries, watermelon, cherries or peach to the soup, giving the gazpacho a sweet taste and refreshing, especially in the summer heat.

Greek salad

Greek salad is easy to customize according to the taste of the child and the family. It is an excellent snack or side dish accompaniment.

Ingredients

  • 4 tomatoes
  • 1 onion
  • 1 cucumber
  • 130 g of feta
  • 2.5 dl of olives
  • Caprice
  • Oreganor, salt and oil
  • (Natural Yogurt)

Manufacturing

  • Chop the vegetables and feta into small pieces and mix all the ingredients together in a bowl.
  • Add 2.5 dl of black or green olives and a handful of capers. If you wish, you can add natural yoghurt to the set.
  • Garnish with oregano, salt and oil to taste before serving.

Insalata caprese salad

Insalata caprese is a simple salad made very quickly that contains only three ingredients. The combination of tomato and cheese usually tastes great for kids – especially if the mozzarella is cut into a fun shape.

Ingredients

  • 2 large tomatoes
  • 2 large mozzarella balls
  • Basilica
  • Pepper, shelter and olive oil

Manufacturing

  • Slice the tomatoes and mozzarella.
  • Arrange the tomato and mozzarella alternately in a serving dish and add fresh basil to the slices.
  • Add olive oil and a pinch of salt and pepper on top of the salad.

Tuna sandwich

Tuna sandwich is a filling, healthy and nutritious snack that is quick and easy to prepare. In addition, it makes it easy to add fish to a child’s diet. The sandwich is also easy to take with you as a snack, for example for an excursion or hobby.

Ingredients

  • Bread
  • 1 boiled egg
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 or 2 lettuce leaves
  • 1 can of tuna
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup

Manufacturing

  1. Slice the egg.
  2. Prepare the pink sauce by mixing the mayonnaise and ketchup together. Stir in the tuna in the sauce.
  3. Spread a generous layer of sauce on the other half of the bread.
  4. Top with egg slices, tomato and lettuce.
  5. Finally, place another slice of bread on top and enjoy.

  • 6 eggs

Manufacturing

  1. Boil eggs in boiling water for 10 minutes.
  2. Rinse the eggs under cold water and then peel and chop them into two parts.
  3. Remove the yolks and mix them with the tuna or fried shrimp.
  4. Add mayonnaise or cream cheese and mix the ingredients into a paste with a stick mixer.
  5. Fill the eggs with the paste and Garnish them with olives or pieces of tomato or pepper.
